Position Overview:  Lakes Area Habitat for Humanity ReStore is looking for a dedicated and customer-focused Donation Driver to assist with the pickup and transportation of donated items. This role plays a key part in ensuring a smooth and efficient donation process, from collecting items at homes and businesses to delivering them to the ReStore or warehouse. The ideal candidate will be professional, courteous, and passionate about Habitat for Humanity’s mission, maintaining strong donor relations while keeping vehicles and equipment in top condition.  Join our team and make a difference in the community by helping provide quality housing through the power of donated goods.

Key Responsibilities:

Donation Pickup & Salvage Operations

  • Safely pick up scheduled donations from residential, commercial and salvage locations.   Upon return at ReStore, items are then safely unloaded at the warehouse or receiving area for sorting, cleaning and pricing. 
  • Screen items at pickup to ensure they meet ReStore’s donation standards, respectfully decline items that do not.  Offer alternative resources for pickup or disposal. 
  • Load and unload donations efficiently following the guidance of the ReStore Manager or Warehouse Coordinator.


ReStore Operations & Sales Floor Support

  • Assist with moving sold items to receiving for customer pickup.
  • Help load and unload vehicles in the receiving area.
  • Transfer priced merchandise from receiving to the sales floor.
  • Support general ReStore operations as needed.


Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance

  • Complete a daily DOT pre-trip inspection checklist.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle and trailer inside and out.
  • Report any maintenance or supply needs to the Donations Coordinator.
  • Ensure scheduled vehicle maintenance and repairs are completed and recorded.

Customer, Donor and Staff Engagement

  • Provide excellent customer service, ensuring a welcoming and respectful experience for all staff, shoppers, donors, and volunteers.
  • Educate customers, donors and volunteers on the mission of Habitat for Humanity and the ReStore.
  • Promote a culture of kindness, integrity, and professionalism in all interactions.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Passion for the mission of Habitat for Humanity.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to and support doners, staff and volunteers effectively.
  • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical exam.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Required: Work gloves; Preferred: Steel-toed shoes or appropriate footwear.
  • Availability to work Tuesday through Saturday.
