Description

The North Central Small Business Development Center at Central Lakes College is excited to announce its inaugural student pitch competition—the Raider Cup. This event aims to showcase the creativity and innovation of students at Central Lakes College, while providing them a platform to share their ideas with the community. The Raider Cup Pitch Competition will be held on April 25th at Noon in the Chalberg Theater at the Central Lakes College Brainerd Campus. This event promises an hour of inspiration as students from various academic programs pitch their business concepts to a panel of local entrepreneurs and experts and a live audience. Following a vetting process, seven students have been selected to be a part of the competition. They are working closely with North Central SBDC professional business consultant John Gunstad to turn their concepts into pitches and will be pre-recording their pitch with the help of Crombie Marketing LLC. The winner of the Raider Cup will receive a $500 Visa Gift Card; the runner-up a $250 Visa Gift Card; and the remaining participants a $50 Visa Gift Card. “Higher education and entrepreneurship go hand-in-hand,” said Katie Heppner, Regional Director of the North Central SBDC. “We are fortunate to have so many talented and innovative students at CLC. The Raider Cup gives them the opportunity to grow their entrepreneurial skill set and get real-world feedback on their concepts. Entrepreneurship isn’t just about starting a business—it is a mindset routed in problem solving, resilience, and adaptability.” The Raider Cup Pitch Competition is funded in part through the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development’s Small Business Assistance Partnership Grant. The North Central SBDC provides no-cost, one-on-one business consulting and low-cost trainings to help entrepreneurs and small business owners start, grow and succeed. The North Central SBDC is hosted by Central Lakes College and works throughout an 11 county and two sovereign nation region. The geographic region served by the North Central SBDC includes: Aitkin, Cass, Chisago, Crow Wing, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Pine, Todd, and Wadena counties and the sovereign nations of the Leech Lake and Mille Lacs Bands of Ojibwe.
