Travel back in time as you walk through an encampment from the Viking Age (700-1066 AD). Professional and local reenactors will demonstrate crafts from the period such as woolgathering, blacksmithing, chain mail making, spring-pole lathe work, open fire cooking, archery, board game construction, jewelry making, and fiber arts such as spinning and weaving.
You will have opportunities to try your hand at several crafts as well as play some Viking games. A children’s area will provide kids with hands-on experiences specifically for them.
The Vikings will also demonstrate the weapons they used and participate in mock battle. They’ll engage the audience in a variety of ways, which may include cheering for a champion or allowing self-selected kids to push over a line of Vikings arrayed behind a shield wall.
Sponsorship in the form of financial or in-kind support as well as volunteer assistance in planning and/or at the event are welcome. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor or volunteering, please contact us.
