A New Year, New Look & New Energy for Lakes Country Triathlon. 2023 is our 19th year. We look forward to seeing you on August 27th! The Kiwanis Club of Baxter is proud to continue the tradition of this beautiful and exciting triathlon. The Brainerd Lakes area has long been a great vacation destination and have one of the premier Sprint Triathlons. The Lakes Country Triathlon continues to build into one of the best triathlons in the state. We hope you will enjoy the great bike course that is over the river and through the woods. It is a beautiful ride with very little traffic. COURSE The race begins with a 1/4-mile swim in quiet Whipple Lake (known for its calm waters), then switches to a 14-mile bike through the rolling hills surrounding the Baxter/Brainerd Lakes area, and ends with a very flat 3.2 mile run through a quiet residential area. The Lakes Country Triathlon is a great race for beginners or seasoned veterans. All cyclists must observe Minnesota traffic laws. Bike certified hard-shelled helmets are required. Drafting is prohibited and will be monitored closely. No listening devices are allowed on the bike course and are strongly discouraged on the run course for safety reasons.
