The annual Tour of Lakes bicycle ride returns for the 30th year on Saturday, June 1, 2019. The recreational ride begins and ends in downtown Brainerd at Sage on Laurel. This year participants can choose a 35-mile or a 66-mile route. Both routes depart from downtown Brainerd. The longer route will pass through Nisswa and around Gull Lake.
During the ride, all rest stops will have bathrooms, food and water. Vehicles will be patrolling the course and assisting riders with mechanical problems. They will also help those who are unable to finish the route, in which case riders and bikes are picked up and brought back to the starting point if needed. Riders of all abilities are welcome—everyone from hard core serious riders who put in over 200 miles a week, to those who have never ridden more than 20. Carry a spare tube in case you get a flat, and bring your helmet as they are required. You do not need a fancy bike, just one that works.
After the ride, stay around to celebrate with some post ride fun at the after party happening at the tour starting point, featuring a live band. Food and drink will be available.
