Early Cancer Detection Saves Lives.

Cuyuna Regional Medical Center (CRMC) is offering free breast and cervical cancer screenings at its Crosby Clinic on Wednesday, June 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. These screenings are specifically for uninsured and under-insured women aged 40 and older who meet income guidelines. Under-insured means you have some health coverage, but it does not fully cover the cost of breast or cervical cancer screenings. These free exams are designed to fill that gap so you can get care without worrying about cost.

CRMC recognizes the importance of early detection and intervention in the fight against breast and cervical cancers. This initiative, in partnership with SAGE, the Minnesota Department of Health’s cervical and breast cancer screening program, underscores our commitment to providing essential healthcare services to all members of our community. CRMC’s Dr. Kristen Maylott and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner Jesse Oman will provide the exams. 

All women are at risk for breast and cervical cancer, but regular screenings can help prevent these diseases or detect them early. Breast and cervical cancers are highly treatable when caught early — these screenings could save your life. Guidelines recommend that women at average risk for breast cancer begin annual screening mammography at age 40. For cervical cancer, it’s recommended that women have their first Pap test at age 21.
