Free Estate Planning Workshop
Tuesday, June 16, 2026 (10:00 AM - 11:30 AM) (CDT)
Description
The Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation(BLACF) will host two free estate planning workshops in June designed to help individuals and families better understand how to protect their assets, plan for the future, and explore charitable giving options that align with personal values.
The workshops will offer clear, practical guidance on estate planning essentials, presented in an easy to understand format. Each session will include educational presentations followed by a question and answer period with experienced professionals.
Tuesday, June 16, from 10:00am to 11:30am at the Matthews Law Office Legacy Learning Center in Nisswa.
This session will feature Ed Matthews, Attorney and CPA with Matthews Law Office, PLLC, along with Terri Foster, BLACF Executive Director.
Topics covered in both workshops include:
- Estate planning basics explained in a straightforward, down to earth manner
- Differences between common planning tools such as wills and trusts
- Legacy planning and charitable giving options, including potential tax saving strategies
- Must-have health documents
- Question and Answer sessions following presentations
“These workshops are a great opportunity for community members to gain knowledge and confidence about estate planning, regardless of where they are in the process,” said Terri Foster. “Our goal is to help people make informed decisions that reflect their wishes and support the causes they care about.”
Both events are free to attend, but registration is required. Community members can register online here or by calling 218-824-5653.
