Minnesota Secure Choice is now in effect, and employers need to understand what’s required. This educational webinar will break down the state-administered retirement savings program, including who must participate, who may qualify for an exemption, employer deadlines, and the steps required to stay compliant. Employers with five or more Minnesota employees who do not offer a qualified retirement plan are required to enroll in the program, while those that already offer a qualified plan must file for an exemption.
Attendees will also learn about ongoing employer responsibilities, including enrolling eligible employees, remitting payroll contributions, and keeping employee records current. The goal is to help businesses understand the process, avoid confusion, and know exactly what steps they need to take.
Chad Roberts serves as the Executive Director of the Minnesota Secure Choice Retirement Program, a state-administered retirement program designed to expand access to workplace retirement savings for Minnesota workers without access to a qualified retirement plan through their employer. He brings more than 25 years of leadership experience across public administration, retirement systems, government finance, and law enforcement. Prior to joining Minnesota Secure Choice, he served as Deputy Executive Director and Chief Retirement Officer for the State of North Dakota Retirement and Investment Office, where he oversaw retirement operations and strategic initiatives for one of the state's largest public pension systems. Dr. Roberts holds bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Doctor of Business Administration degree from the University of Mary. He is committed to advancing retirement security and helping employers and workers build stronger financial futures.
