Description
The Crossing Arts Alliance is working in conjunction with the Destination Downtown Brainerd Coalition and the City of Brainerd requesting artist renditions for an Ox Statue that will be placed in downtown Brainerd this fall. The Crossing Arts Alliance is requesting interested artists to submit their designs by Sunday, October 25, 2020.CALL FOR ART SUBMISSION RULES
This call for art is open to residents of Minnesota. Artists may submit up to 3 designs for consideration. Submitted designs should be family-friendly and aesthetically appropriate for display in public places. Some examples for the family-friendly criterion include absence of violence, nudity, bias and hate.
Work will be juried by a committee consisting of the Executive/Artistic Director of The Crossing Arts Alliance, members of the Destination Downtown Business Coalition, employees of the City of Brainerd, and community members.
The artist chosen for this project will receive a $650 honorarium to help defray material costs and other expenses. Priming and sealing of the sculpture will be provided by the coordinators of this call for art. The artist will furnish all of the paint materials, and be responsible for the painting of the artwork. The artist will, weather permitting, perform the painting of the piece in downtown Brainerd. The artist's work must be of a high quality, in compliance with generally accepted standards of workmanship, and consistent with the sketches that were provided to and accepted by the committee. Artwork shall not violate any copyright. The artist may be asked to complete a contract with the City of Brainerd or the Destination Downtown Business Coalition detailing copyright and design use.
