SUMMARY:Wild Edible Intensive
DESCRIPTION:Event DescriptionWild Edible Intensive: Wild plants and mushrooms provide nutritious\, delicious\, sustainable\, local\, gourmet food always found in the best place to be: the great outdoors! This workshop will cover dozens of wild edibles in our region\, including the most amazing greens\, mushrooms\, roots\, shoots\, berries\, nuts\, grains\, and spices that money can't buy.Creative methods for incorporating more diversity into your diet will also be introduced\, including wild teas\, sodas\, pestos\, nutritional powders\, bouillons\, salts\, and more. Throughout the day\, we'll put into practice a conservation-foraging approach in which our focus shifts from simply finding and harvesting edible plants\, to watching and learning about each plant's role in an ecological community\, and taking action to help steward that community (e.g.\, by eating/preventing spread of invasives\, protecting/planting appropriate natives\, etc.).We'll have several tables of wild edibles on display\, including both fresh specimens and preserved food to get your creative juices flowing.Workshop includes an in-depth classroom component\, hands-on time exploring the displays\, a guided foray into the wild\, and a culinary project that connects us to our place. Samples for tasting purposes will be provided. This workshop will meet you where you're at: beginners will leave with dozens of new species they feel confident about\; more advanced foragers will expand their repertoire of species and preparation methods.Instructed by: Sarah Foltz JordanMembers: $90Non-Members: $100All experience levels welcome.By adding this item to your cart\, you agree to our waiver\, and terms of service.
