We’re breaking down public speaking into something practical, approachable, and useful.

Join the WAVE Young Professionals Network for their January event, at the Grand View Lodge's Gull Lake Center's Lake Itasca Room on Wednesday, January 21 from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM!

At our January WAVE event, we’re kicking things off with an introduction to Paul Bunyan Toastmasters, a globally recognized organization dedicated to helping people become stronger speakers and leaders. You’ll hear from a Toastmasters member and Professional Certified Coach about what public speaking really is (hint: it’s more than presentations), why communication skills matter at every career stage, and how they directly impact confidence, credibility, and connection. Then, we’ll shift into an engaging, interactive experience designed to help you practice, learn, and walk away with tools you can actually use—no pressure, no perfection required.

This event is FREE for WAVE Members. Guests are $25.

Meet Your Workshop Leader

Meet Dr. Naomi Schmid, owner of Naomi Schmid Coaching, LLC and member of the Paul Bunyan Toastmasters Club. Her work centers on guiding professionals in healthcare, leadership, and other demanding fields toward grounded confidence, renewed purpose, and a life that feels both successful and fulfilling. Dr. Schmid’s coaching integrates her firsthand experience in high-pressure professional environments with strategies that help clients clarify priorities, strengthen boundaries, and align their energy with what matters most. 
 


What is WAVE Young Professionals Network?
WAVE YPN is a NEW networking and professional development program for individuals aged 18-39 in the Brainerd Lakes Area. This program is organized by the Brainerd Lakes Chamber and led by a team of young individuals representing a wide variety of industries across our community.
