Our Flight Begins As Song - Spring 2021 virtual concert

Friday, April 23, 2021 (7:00 PM - 8:15 PM) (CDT)

Description

The Legacy Chorale of Greater Minnesota will be holding their Virtual Spring Concert on Friday, April 23, 2021, beginning at 7:00 PM.  Entitled, “Our Flight Begins As Song,” the event will be presented on YouTube through a hybrid-streaming format. Along with select pre-recorded performances by the chorale from their past 19 seasons, viewers will also see the chorale in two virtual videos that are currently being produced and watch them sing live from the Franklin Arts Center Auditorium in Brainerd.

Along with the music, the virtual audience will enjoy live introductions to each piece by singers of the chorale, many of whom are 19-year veteran members. Repertoire includes the first song performed at the chorale’s very first concert in October, 2002: “Musick’s Empire” by Lloyd Pfautsch; “Down By the Riverside” (2005); “Sactus” from John Rutter’s Requiem (2008); two movements from W.A. Mozart’s Requiem (2012); Let there Be Peace On Earth” performed with the Brainerd High School 9th Grade Varsity Choir (2019); two virtual videos-I Hear America Singing” and “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing”; and live performances of Norwegian composer Kim André Arnesen’s beautiful “Flight Song” followed by the rip-roarin’ gospel-style original by Rosepahyne Powell, “I Will Sing!”

Also featured on the concert are photos of artwork created by members of the chorale superimposed over the audio of several songs; many of the images correlate with the lyrics of each piece. Member-created artwork includes paintings, drawings, photography, Ukranian Eggs, and hand-made items.

Audio and visual support will be provided by Keith Bingelli, Adam Reinwald (producer, Five Wings Arts Council consultant), Jeffrey Bipes, Jennifer Pedersen, Steve Schaitberger, Tyler Schaitberger and Bob Nelson.
