Join us on June 4th for a special event and discussion at Central Lakes College: Active Shooter Preparedness. Hosted by the Brainerd Lakes Chamber, Lakes Area Manufacturing Alliance, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, this event addresses the history of active shooter events and describes common behaviors, conditions & situations associated with active shooters. Attendees will learn about valuable resources available and best practices to assist in planning preparedness and response to an active shooter incident.

Active Shooter Preparedness
Given today's ever-changing threat environment, preparing for and training employees to cope with workplace violence should be a key piece of an organization's incident response planning.

  • Educating participants on the history of active shooter events.
  • Describing common behavior, conditions, and situations associated with active shooters.
  • Providing information on resources available and best practices to assist in planning, preparedness, and response to an active shooter incident.
Meet the Keynote Speaker
Glenn Sanders is currently serving as a Supervisory Protective Security Advisor with the Infrastructure Security Division, Cyber Security and Infrastructure Security Agency within the Department of Homeland Security. In this capacity, Glenn is responsible for representing DHS within the State of Minnesota serving as a liaison between DHS and the private sector as well as with federal, tribal, state, and local mission partners. As DHS’ on-site critical infrastructure specialist, Glenn provides assistance and support as appropriate to DHS mission partners for all-hazards prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery efforts as well as during designated security events in order to enhance infrastructure security and resilience. Glenn has worked very closely within the State of Minnesota over the last 14 years to further the mission of protecting our Nation’s and Minnesota’s critical infrastructure. Prior to coming to DHS, Glenn retired from the US Army after a successful 24-year military career.
